Page 1 Panel 1.

Ken stands in a field with mountains in the background. Behind him, K, MacCormac, and the Dots are jamming. Ken says, "Welcome to the jamming fields! We of the World On A String believe there are few things quite as awesome as a good jam." Volume 1, number 5. CC BY-SA Ken Alleman 2019.

Waves of energy from each musician's instrument come together to form the four chords from volume 1 number 3.

Ken says, "When you show up to a jam session, try not to be that guy. You know, the one who steps on people's toes, makes it a competition, plays solo after solo. That guy."

Ken says, "Instead of waiting for your turn to solo, play parts that will give your bandmates a canvas to paint on. Keep your parts simple, melodically, harmonically, and rhythmically. Make them as open and inviting as possible. If everybody does this, you'll find yourself interlinking with them in a slowly mutating collage of improvised music. Focus on your bandmates, not yourself. Don't be that guy."

A massive "Boom!" rocks the landscape. Ken and his friends shield themselves from the blowing wind and rocks. A voice from off panel says "Hey..."

The Mad Scientist looms, the sun behind his back, standing amid the rocky debris and wrecked hillside. An all black flying V is strapped across his body. He says, "I'm that guy." To be continued.
